Kleive Church

The first time the records tells of a church on this site is in 1589. We don't know how old it was then or what it looked like. It was probably wooden, but I don't think it was a stavechurch though. This church was tore down in 1697 and replaced by a church buildt as two crossing naves. This church in turn was replaced by the octagonal church in 1857. This is the church that is still standing.

Hjelset School band taking part in service. My wife Inger Lise conduct the band and your very own webmaster is playing his clarinet in the middle of the picture.
